Anne Rice (born Howard Allen Frances O'Brien) is an American author of gothic fiction, Christian literature, and erotica. She is, perhaps, best known for her Vampire Chronical Novels that focused around the character Lestat.
The Silver Wraith II was purchased simply for research purposes. Apparently (according to her !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! ) it's going to be sold soon, so you know, could be an opportunity to pick it up on the cheap. Why would someone buy a RR simply for research? Well, we are talking about an author that is known to spend several pages describing a cup of coffee. My guess, she just wants to be able to get all the details right.
Some commented on the photo that it must be nice buying a RR and being able to write it off as a business expense, but according to Anne;
"Hadn't thought of that, Just bought it and now have no garage in which to store it. And have enjoyed it but time to move on? I don't think the IRS would go for a deduction."

It probably cost $12k. Of course, that is also what it will cost every time she takes it in for servicing, but low barrier to entry, at least.
